A Step-by-Step Guide: Turning a Scanned Word Document into a Full Mobile Learning Training

wordbuzzing

As a learning designer specializing in mobile learning, I understand the importance of creating engaging and interactive learning experiences that cater to the needs of modern learners. This post will walk you through how I turned a scanned Word document into a complete mobile learning training incorporating learning modules and gamification. From analyzing the document to creating the training structure, developing learning modules, adding gamification elements, testing and refining the training, and launching it to learners, we will provide a comprehensive guide to help create effective and engaging mobile learning experiences.

Steps summary:

  • Analyze the Word Document

  • Create the Training Structure in Teach on Mars Platform

  • Create Learning Modules

  • Add Gamification Elements

  • Test and Refine

  • Launch the Mobile Learning Training

Step 1: Analyze the Word Document The first step in creating a mobile learning training is to analyze the content of the Word document. This involves breaking down the document into its key learning objectives and identifying the most important concepts and ideas that need to be conveyed to learners.

Step 2: Create the Training Structure For this step, I use an Excel spreadsheet where I have all the information that I previously gathered from the first call with my client: from the learners' audience group, the goals to more specific information, and the detailed structure of the training. After the client approves of the structure, the next step is to translate the training structure into the Teach on Mars platform (LMS). This involves designing the overall structure of the training, in the back-office of the platform, including the learning path, the sequence of modules, and the assessment criteria.

Step 3: Create Learning Modules in the Teach on Mars Platform. With the training structure in place, the next step is to create the learning modules that will be used to deliver the content to learners. The modules should be designed to be interactive and engaging and should include a range of multimedia elements such as videos, images, and interactive quizzes. In this case, as the document was only text, I had to create a mood board of images and other graphic elements. For the learning through playing, I created three different games using the Teach on Mars formats, such as Pick a Word, Fill the Gap, and a Challenge, as a final assessment.

Step 4: Add Gamification Elements To make the training more engaging, gamification elements were added to the learning modules. This included points systems, badges, and leaderboards, which can help motivate learners and encourage them to engage more deeply with the content.

Step 5: Test and Refine Once the training has been created, it is essential to test it thoroughly to ensure it is effective and engaging for learners. Feedback from learners should be used to refine the training and make any necessary improvements.

Step 6: Launch the Mobile Learning Training Finally, once the training has been refined and tested, it can be launched and made available to learners. Promoting the training to learners and encouraging them to engage with it regularly is essential to ensure they get the most out of the learning experience.

In conclusion, creating a complete mobile learning training incorporating learning modules and gamification requires careful planning, design, and testing. By following these steps, it is possible to create highly effective and engaging mobile learning training that meets the needs of modern learners using the Teach on Mars platform.
